Black Stars winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says the team is fit, focused, and ready to make Ghana proud as they prepare for Wednesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama in Toronto.

Speaking after Sunday’s training session at Bryant University, the Leicester City forward said the mood in camp is positive and the squad is determined to start the tournament strongly.

Read on for the full transcript:

On training so far :
So far, so good. The energy in camp is great, and everyone is ready. Training is going well and we’re just getting ready. Personally, I’ve enjoyed the sessions. It’s positive — I can see the changes. We’re getting fit and getting ready for the game.

On making another FIFA World Cup appearance:
I feel amazing because it’s always a dream come true to be part of a World Cup team. I’m privileged to be part of this team, and this is my second time. The first time was about experience and I learnt a lot. Now I’m going to put in everything to help the team get to a better position.

On Ghana’s chances:
Looking at the team, I have so much confidence in the guys. Everyone is ready and the training we’re doing is helping. I think it’s going to make us fitter, improve us, and help the team move forward.

Message to Ghanaians:
My message to Ghanaians is simple: keep the support and keep praying for us. We’ll be here working hard to make you proud.
