Prabhsimran Singh entered the history books by becoming only the third batter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to hit six consecutive fours in an over during the Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) away game against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 25.

In the sixth and final over of the powerplay, bowled by Mukesh Kumar, Prabhsimran hit 24 runs in an over, with each ball finding the fence. The first ball was a low full-toss, which was sent to the cover boundary, helping the right-handed batter reach his half-century in just 18 balls.

After the first five balls went for fours, Mukesh bowled the final ball of the over short. Prabhsimran was in no position to hit the pull shot, but he did and skied it up in the air. In a desperate attempt to take the catch and send an attacking batter back to the pavilion, Tristan Stubbs ran and dived forward, only for the South African to miss, and the ball trickled into the boundary.

Prabhsimran had an excellent time at the crease before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. He scored 76 off just 26 balls, at a strike-rate of 292.31.

This is unreal hitting 😮‍💨

6 balls, 6 boundaries for Prabhsimran Singh, only the 3rd player to do it in #TATAIPL.

In hitting six boundaries off the Mukesh over, Prabhsimran became only the third player to achieve this feat in IPL’s long-lasting history.

Current Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane was the first batter in the tournament’s history to achieve this feat. He scored six boundaries off the bowling of Sreenath Aravind whilst representing the Rajasthan Royals against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium back in 2012.

The IPL had to wait for another nine years for a repeat of this unique feat. This time, it was DC’s Prithvi Shaw, who scored six fours against KKR’s Shivam Mavi in the first over of their innings in Ahmedabad. That particular over went for 25 runs after the seamer bowled a wide off the first ball.
