The Indian Premier League (IPL) and Kuldeep Yadav expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Railways for arranging a special Vande Bharat train on short notice to evacuate players, support staff, and the broadcast crew involved in Thursday’s abandoned clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala.

On Thursday, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said that the players and others involved in the encounter would be brought out of “Little Lhasa” by a special train. The IPL posted a heartwarming video on Friday, showing players like Shreyas Iyer, Faf du Plessis and commentators like Anjum Chopra and Graeme Swann making their way out of Dharamsala in the luxurious Vande Bharat train.

The IPL acknowledged the prompt action taken by the Ministry of Railways in the caption of the video shared on its official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle.

“Thank you, @RailMinIndia, for arranging a special Vande Bharat train on such short notice to ferry the players, support staff, commentators, production crew members, and operations staff to New Delhi.Ā We deeply appreciate your swift response,” IPL posted in the caption of the video.

I would once again like to thank BCCI as well as the Indian Railways: Kuldeep

DC wrist spinner Kuldeep highlighted the huge number of people who were being brought out of Dharamsala via the train, and he thanked the BCCI and the Indian Railways for how things had been managed.

“Team members bohot hai, staff bohot hai. BCCI ke kaafi log, cameramen se leke jitne bhi technical log jure huye hai isme. Pura crew bohot bada hai aur jis tarah se manage kiya hai bohot accha tha. Main ekbar phirse thank you bolna chahta hu, BCCI plus Indian Railway ko [There are many team members as well as staff. People from the BCCI, cameramen and technical people who are involved in this. The entire crew is very big, and the way in which things have been managed has been very good. I would once again like to thank BCCI as well as the Indian Railway],” Kuldeep said in the video.

The PBKS versus DC clash was stopped midway into the first innings after significant technical failure in the area which caused a power outage. With the airport being closed due to the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan, bringing the players out of Dharamsala via train was the most feasible option.
