Mumbai Indians’ (MI) talismanic speedster Trent Boult picked up yet another wicket in his first over as he dismissed the in-form Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharsan with a peach of a delivery at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, May 6 in Match No. 56 of the IPL 2025.
Defending a modest target of 156, Mumbai needed early wickets in the crucial fixture and Boult provided just that as he got the better of Sudharsan with a beautiful out-swinger. Hardik Pandya gave the New Zealand seamer the ball in the second over. Boult went past the outside edge with an out-swinger off the first ball of his spell, as Sudharsan poked at the delivery, only to get beaten all ends up. However, the southpaw wasn’t as lucky off the following delivery.
Boult pitched the ball up and got it to shape away from the left-handed batter. Sudharsan was forced to offer a shot, and this time, the outside edge was found. It nestled into the hands of wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton as the MI players were cock-a-hoop.

Interestingly, this was only the third time in 36 IPL innings that Sudharsan had been dismissed for a single-digit score. He could only make five runs off as many balls, falling one short of Orange Cap holder Suryakumar Yadav’s tally for the season.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai lost the wickets in clusters through the middle overs after Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks added a 71-run stand from just 43 balls for the third wicket. The five-time champions slumped from 97/2 to 123/7 courtesy of a splendid bowling performance from the Titans. Jacks top-scored with a 35-ball 53 and Corbin Bosch’s 27 (22) at the back end helped Mumbai get to a respectable total. However, they will have to keep chipping away at the wickets to entertain hopes of securing a victory.
