[WATCH] Bangladesh players mock Mohammad Rizwan with ’50 Paise’ taunt in second Test

The Bangladesh team were merciless in their sledging of Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan during the ongoing second Test in Sylhet. The incident occurred in the 72nd over of Pakistan’s final innings when Rizwan was seen in conversation with the on-field umpire.

Although the stump mic failed to capture what was being discussed, it clearly picked up the Bangladesh players mocking the wicketkeeper-batter. The players accused Rizwan of overacting and sarcastically joked that he should be fined 50 paise for it.

“For overacting, we’ll dock 50 paise. Everyone knows it. Now that he has scored 50, he has cemented his place in the team, that’s why he is doing all this,” the players could repeatedly be heard saying on the stump mic.

Despite the relentless sledging, Rizwan remained composed and showed little reaction. After his brief discussion with the umpire, he calmly walked over to his batting partner, Salman Ali Agha. The 134-run partnership between Rizwan and Agha for the sixth wicket had started to frustrate the Bangladesh bowlers.

However, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam eventually made the breakthrough, beating Agha’s defence with a sharp slider. An over later, Taijul struck again by dismissing Hasan Ali, shifting the momentum decisively back in Bangladesh’s favour.

Rizwan, unbeaten on 75, remains Pakistan’s last major hope in the second Test, with the visitors still trailing by 121 runs and only three wickets remaining. Pakistan had already lost the opening Test and are now staring at a humiliating 0-2 series whitewash in Bangladesh.

Earlier in the day, fast bowler Nahid Rana impressed with figures of 2/58, consistently troubling Pakistan’s batters with his pace. He provided Bangladesh with the first breakthrough by dismissing Abdullah Fazal for six, inducing a miscued short-ball catch to gully. Soon after, off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped Azan Awais lbw for 21, putting Bangladesh firmly in control.

Pakistan then fought back through a steady 91-run partnership between captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam, who handled Nahid’s pace well while keeping the scoreboard ticking. Their stand ended when Taijul forced Babar into a leg-side dismissal for 47.

Saud Shakeel was then caught behind off another sharp delivery from Nahid, before Taijul removed Masood via a short-leg catch, leaving Pakistan in deep trouble at 162/6. Although Rizwan and Agha briefly revived Pakistan’s hopes with their crucial stand, Taijul’s late double strike once again pushed Bangladesh closer to a second consecutive Test series sweep over Pakistan.
