Arshdeep Singh had a night to remember on Sunday, April 19, as he helped Punjab Kings (PBKS) register a massive 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 29 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. After the win, Arshdeep shared a joyous moment with the team’s co-owner Preity Zinta as the duo greeted cheerfully.

Notably, Arshdeep played a crucial role in Punjab’s comprehensive win against the Lucknow-based franchise. In a high-scoring affair, Arshdeep gave away 41 runs in his spell but picked up the wicket of opposition captain Rishabh Pant (43 off 23). Pant had been striking the ball ferociously, but the left-arm pacer trapped him, getting the wicketkeeper-batter caught behind the wickets.

Arshdeep becomes most capped player for PBKS

For the unversed, the game on Sunday marked a historic day for Arshdeep and his team, as he marked his 88th appearance in the PBKS jersey. This made him the player with most matches for Punjab Kings in IPL history, as he went past the record held previously by veteran right-arm leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who represented them between 2008 and 2013.

Chawla played 87 games for the franchise, followed by David Miller (79 matches from 2012 to 2019), Glenn Maxwell (72 matches from 2014 to 2025) and Shaun Marsh (71 matches from 2008 to 2017). Axar Patel, who played his first for KXIP (old name – Kings XI Punjab) in 2014 and represented them up until 2018, has 68 appearances for the two-time finalists.
