Black Satellites Captain Aziz Misbau was named Man of the Match after an outstanding performance in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Niger in the third-place playoff at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup. The dynamic forward led by example, scoring both goals to seal Ghana’s place on the podium at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The Black Satellites skipper broke the deadlock in the second half, calmly converting a penalty to give Ghana the lead after a Nigerien defender handled the ball inside the box. Moments later, Misbau doubled the advantage with a stunning drive from the edge of the area that left the goalkeeper helpless.

His performance earned him widespread applause from fans and officials alike, and he was deservedly named Man of the Match by the tournament’s technical team. This recognition capped off a remarkable campaign for the talented forward, who was also crowned joint top scorer with three goals.

Misbau’s leadership on the field and ability to rise to the occasion proved crucial throughout the tournament, especially in the bronze medal clash where he stepped up at the right moments to make the difference.

The young striker’s display also reaffirms his growing status as one of the brightest talents in Ghanaian football, and he is expected to attract attention from top scouts following his consistent form during the competition.

With the WAFU Zone B U20 Cup designed as a developmental tournament, performances like Misbau’s offer hope for the future of Ghana’s national teams and underline the value of investing in youth football.
