The battle for supremacy in Group B of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Championship continues as Niger take on Togo in the second group match at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The game is scheduled to kick off at 18:00GMT, moments after the first group game between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, and promises a fascinating clash of philosophies and ambition.

Niger, under the guidance of soft-spoken coach Abdulrahman Issa, are approaching the tournament with a long-term vision. Speaking ahead of the match, Issa emphasized the developmental nature of the competition for his squad but expressed quiet confidence in his team’s chances. “This is a developmental tournament for us. We’re here to learn and grow, not chase results — but I believe we will win against Togo,” he said.

On the other side, Togo coach Ametokodo Messan is full of belief in his team’s preparation and ability to upset expectations in the tournament. “We’ve had a good build-up to this championship. My boys are in great shape, and we are here to pull a surprise,” Messan remarked.

With both teams seeking to make a strong impression in a group that includes heavyweights Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, Saturday’s encounter is crucial. A win for either side could put them in a favorable position to challenge for a semi-final slot.

The WAFU U20 Championship continues to highlight the depth and promise of youth football across West Africa.
