Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls against West Indies at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, on September 27, 2026, equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 60 centuries in List A cricket. The innings was a commanding display of aggressive batsmanship that guided India to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory.

The 139 was Kohli’s 55th ODI century, extending his own world record ahead of Tendulkar’s 49 ODI hundreds. He struck 10 fours and nine sixes across the innings, with the nine maximums representing his career-high in a single ODI innings. In a further first for his international career, Kohli reached both his fifty and his hundred with sixes in the same ODI innings.

India chased down West Indies’ total of 295 for seven with considerable ease, reaching 300 for two in 41.4 overs to win by eight wickets. Shubman Gill provided excellent support at the top of the order, contributing 110 off 108 balls in the successful chase and ensuring Kohli never had to rebuild after losing a partner.

How does this innings place Kohli alongside Tendulkar in List A cricket?

Virat Kohli’s century in Thiruvananthapuram also saw him draw level with Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time list of most List A centuries. Kohli now has 60 List A hundreds in 338 innings, matching Tendulkar’s tally of 60 centuries, which he accumulated in 538 innings.

The List A category includes both international and domestic one-day cricket, making the landmark broader than their ODI records. In ODIs alone, Kohli has already moved ahead of Tendulkar, with 55 centuries compared to Tendulkar’s 49. However, their List A numbers now stand level, with Kohli having reached the mark in significantly fewer innings.

Tendulkar’s tally of 60 List A centuries had remained one of the most remarkable benchmarks in one-day cricket. Kohli’s latest hundred means he now has an opportunity to move past his former India teammate and take sole ownership of the record in the coming matches.
