In a decision that reflects his rapid rise in Indian cricket, teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar will not be appearing for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X board examinations this year. He has been a revelation in the Indian cricket circuit with his outwardly performances at his age, and as the Indian Premier League 2026 is beginning in March, Suryavanshi chose to keep studies aside.

Now in a major decision, the emerging cricketer has opted out due to an extremely demanding cricket schedule that includes cricket commitments. Security concerns at the designated examination centre have also played a role in the decision. Although his admit card had already been issued and the exam centre formally allotted as well, Suryavanshi will not sit for the exams this year.

“Around 2000-3000 people gather to see Suryavanshi wherever he goes. He is one of the most favourite cricketers of the country today. We are thinking of alternate arrangements for him so that he could sit his exams later,” former BCA president Rakesh Tiwari was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

The CBSE Class X examinations are scheduled to be held from February 17 to March 11. Adarsh Kumar Pintu, director of Modesty School in Tajpur, where Suryavanshi studies, confirmed that all formalities had been completed from the school’s side, and he was also given Podar International School in his town as the exam centre.

“After discussions with Suryavanshi’s father, it emerged that due to his busy schedule, he will not be able to appear in the examination this year. Currently, Suryavanshi is completely focused on cricket and is busy preparing for upcoming tournaments,” he said.

Suryavanshi recently enjoyed a stellar campaign at the Under-19 World Cup, where he delivered a series of commanding performances and played a key role in the Boys in Blue lifting the prestigious silverware.

After making his debut in IPL 2025 for the Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi has made several batting records in the cash-rich tournament already. He has scored the fastest IPL century by an Indian batter (35 balls) and holds the record for most sixes by an Indian in an innings (11). He has also set U-19 World Cup records for most sixes (30) and fastest final century (55 balls), apart from being the youngest to play in IPL.
