Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, is reportedly willing to go for a loan move for first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana. Andre Onana, earns about  £200,000 per week. He has repeatedly struggled with inconsistent form and high-profile errors. These errors has caused the team to lose. This has been happening since his $47 million move from Inter Milan in 2023.

His contract running and is set to expire in 2028. Selling him would be difficult. Instead, a temporary departure seems more likely. Possibly a loan move with a buy in clause. Manchester United look to refresh the position without incurring a permanent loss.

Reports suggest Amorim wants a reliable keeper to lead from the back. Options under consideration include experienced and big names. Possibilities include World Cup winner Emi Martínez. And Porto’s National League 2025 winner Diogo Costa. They are being watched and are in focus. As they both offer leadership and composure. Manchester United’s strategy could involve loaning Onana out while waiting to bring in a replacement. This move is possibly aimed at reducing their wage bill and maintaining squad balance.

Onana’s high salary has made finding a buying club hard. Manchester United appear ready to pay part of his wages during the loan spell. This makes it easy for the potential clubs. AS Monaco is one of the interested clubs. Onana’s wages still remain a sticking point. By loaning Onana out temporarily, Manchester United free up funds to pursue their primary keeper target.

Meanwhile, the club remain locked in talks with alternatives. Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez stands out. He carries experience and has previously been linked with a move. The other candidate is Diogo Costa. His £64 million release clause makes him a long-term option. Though poor financial conditions could delay his arrival.

A loan move Andre Onana allows Manchester United the much needed fluidity. A replacement must be found quickly. Otherwise Onana could return and reclaim his position. This careful approach matches with Amorim’s methodical plan for squad development.

Ruben Amorim’s is obviously open to loan out Onana. This possibly signals a shift in the priorities of the Coach. Keeping a high-earning yet inconsistent keeper on the squad no longer makes sense. The Dutch Goalkeeper has made many costly mistakes. This caused a rapid fall of trust both within the squad and among supporters.

Manchester United is working to find a replacement. Whether they will secure this on a permanent transfer or on loan is still unclear. This would shore up defensive stability. For example, Costa’s ball-playing ability fits Manchester United’s desired style under Amorim. And Martínez offers proven consistency and leadership. The signing one of these options could ease the way for Onana’s loan and eventual sale.

If executed properly, this move could mark a real change in goalkeeping strategy. Manchester United could solve their pre existing problems. This would balance out financial soundness. Besides promoting their sporting ambition. The outcome depends on signing the right replacement. And perfectly coordinating the loan to match Onana’s career path.

Manchester United’s call to loan out Andre Onana is an important step toward resolving their goalkeeping problem. Accepting a permanent sale could cause problems for the club. Instead loaning him offers ease and obvious financial relief. All the while, looking for a seasoned goalkeeper to fill in Onana’s gloves. This signals ambition and foresight. Ruben Amorim is patient. His calculated approach signals a new chapter for Manchester United. One defined by fluidity and vision. They are prioritizing clear intentions over comfort. This reform in goalkeeping strategy could offer stability both on the pitch and in the club’s broader campaign.
