Manchester United are closing in on a major signing of the Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. Talks have advanced to the stage where the player is expected to undergo a medical at Old Trafford next week. An initial bid of around £60 million is believed to cover the base fee and added incentives. This matches the Brentford’s scouts valuation

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, made his preference for Manchester United known early this summer. He prioritised the Red Devils through and through. Even with Tottenham Hotspurs and Newcastle United expressing their interest in signing him. His commitment, combined with Manchester United’s renewed offer – well above the earlier £45 million starter – has pushed the deal close to completion.

The signing would mark significant activity for United after they already secured Matheus Cunha. It also underscores the club’s aim to rebuild an attack that struggled last season.

🚨 Manchester United have submitted new proposal for Bryan Mbeumo who remains priority target.

The proposal was sent over the weekend and it’s in excess of £60m, discussions continue with Brentford.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur has now stepped away from the race for Bryan Mbeumo. The winger was, before Manchester United’s advances, considered one of their main targets for both the clubs. His magnificent season despite him being from a mid-table club is downright impressive. All thanks to his reasonable strong goal and assist record . However, concerns over his wage expectations and preference for Manchester United saw Newcastle refocus their efforts elsewhere.

With Mbeumo out of reach, Newcastle has turned to Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga and others. They now plan to address their right-wing needs through alternative signings. The departure of Mbeumo has cleared their path to finalise deals with other targets.

From a tactical standpoint, Mbeumo is expected to fit seamlessly into Manchester United’s system. In the last Premiere League season he scored 20 Premier League goals last season, plus seven assists, in 42 appearances. His high work rate, good ability to press, and positional sense to play across several forward positions match what manager Ruben Amorim has called for.

He is likely to earn around £200,000 a week, reflecting his status and recent form. That wage places him among United’s higher earners but still within the club’s revised payment structure following current additions like Cunha. His arrival is set to add depth and dynamism to a squad that lacked creativity and goals last term.

🚨🇨🇲 @FabrizioRomano on Bryan Mbeumo:

“What I can add today is that the player has been clear with Brentford… going to Manchester United for him is a DREAM move.”

This transfer, once completed, would mark Brentford’s record sale. This would also seal Manchester United’s intent to revamp their attacking options. It stands as one of the biggest summer moves for both Mbeumo and the club.

The signing aligns with Manchester United’s shift under new leadership. Gone are the days of hoarding big names. Instead, the focus now is on targeted, strategic investments in players who fit the system. If he adapts well, Mbeumo could be one of the most important key in a new-look attacking trio featuring Matheus Cunha and potentially another centre forward.

Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United represents more than an important signing. It reflects direction of the club under new leadership. His high work rate, which is clearly visible in the last season, highlights his ability to perform in the Premier League. More importantly, his choice of Manchester United over other clubs who were advancing with an offer suggests his commitment to rebuild and contribute to the club meaningfully.

The club’s willingness to back the move financially and tactically indicates that the age of reactive splashes is over. With the medical lined up and both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur out of the way, this transfer could reshape Manchester United’s immediate future and signal a sharper, more purposeful era.
