Epiphany Warriors, Halifax Queens, and Oaks Ladies have a lot to contend with when they take on Hasaacas Ladies, Army Ladies, and Police Ladies, respectively, in Matchday 16 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League this weekend. The league has been exciting in the Southern Zone, thanks to the neck-and-neck competition between leaders Hasaacas Ladies, second-placed Army Ladies, Jonina Ladies, Epiphany Warriors, and defending champions Police Ladies. Here is what to expect on Matchday 16.

SOCCER INTELLECTUALS vs LADYSTRIKERS

Cape Coast Ladystrikers will make a short trip to Senya Beraku to play regional rivals Soccer Intellectuals in a game anticipated to be a fireworks display. Matches between these two sides have always lived up to their billing. This weekend’s clash promises to be uncompromising and thrilling as both sides struggle to escape relegation. The plight of the hosts is even more precarious as they are locked second from the bottom of the league log with 11 points from 15 games. The guests, though nine points better than their opponent with 20 points and placed 5th on the log, are still candidates for relegation. Both teams enter this game having lost their preceding matches. Soccer Intellectuals lost 2-1 on the road to leaders Hasaacas Ladies, and Ladystrikers succumbed to Army Ladies by the same margin at home.

ARMY LADIES vs HALIFAX QUEENS

Army Ladies Aim to Close Gap as They Host Struggling Halifax Queens at Teshie. Matchday 16 of the Southern Zone brings a compelling fixture to the Teshie Mats Park as Army Ladies prepare to host bottom-placed Halifax Queens. The home side, currently sitting second in the table with 30 points, will be eager to capitalize on their strong form to put pressure on league leaders Hasaacas Ladies. With a solid goal difference of +6, Army Ladies have shown consistency this season and will fancy their chances against a Halifax side that has endured a difficult campaign. Halifax Queens find themselves rooted to the bottom of the standings with just 6 points from 15 matches and a concerning goal difference of -28. With promotion aspirations on the line for Army Ladies and Halifax desperate for points to revive their survival hopes, expect an intriguing battle at Teshie.

POLICE LADIES vs OAK LADIES

Defending champions Police Ladies will host debutants Oaks Ladies at the Alajo Astro Turf in what promises to be an exciting encounter. Police Ladies will head into the match with revenge on their minds after suffering a heavy 4–0 defeat to Oaks Ladies in the first leg earlier in the season. Playing in front of their home supporters, the champions will be determined to bounce back strongly and secure a victory that could boost their chances of successfully defending their league title. Oak Ladies, however, will come into the game full of confidence after their recent improvement in form. The debutants will be eager to extend their winning streak as they continue their fight to avoid relegation in their maiden season in the top flight. Currently, Oaks Ladies sit in 7th place with 16 points, while Police Ladies occupy 5th position with 24 points after 15 matches played. With both sides having plenty to play for, the clash at the Alajo Astro Turf is expected to be a fiercely contested battle.

FC SAMARTEX LADIES vs JONINA LADIES

The Nsenkyire Sports Arena, popularly known as the Fortress, will once again host an exciting encounter as FC Samartex Ladies take on Jonina Ladies in Week 16 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League this Sunday. Samartex Ladies will be determined to bounce back after yet another draw at home in Week 15. Playing in front of their home supporters, the Timber Giants Ladies have shown resilience but will be looking to convert their chances into goals and secure a much-needed victory this weekend. Jonina Ladies, however, come into the fixture with confidence after securing an important win over Halifax Queens in their last match. The victory boosted their morale and strengthened their position in the league as they continue their push for more points.

EPIPHANY WARRIORS vs HASAACAS LADIES

League leaders Hasaacas Ladies will travel to face Epiphany Warriors this weekend in a highly anticipated Southern Zone encounter. Epiphany Warriors will be looking to recover after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Oaks Ladies in their previous outing. Hasaacas Ladies, on the other hand, also enter this fixture in formidable form following a dominant 2-1 victory over Soccer Intellectuals, a result that further solidified their status as title favorites. Hasaacas Ladies currently lead the pack in 1st place, while Epiphany Warriors remain a constant threat in the top four.
