The Indian Premier League is known as a cash-rich tournament, which offers lucractive salaries to lesser-known talents, giving them not only an opportunity to showcase their game on the biggest stage, but also get paid heavily for their skills and hold of the sport.

In the 2026 auction, teams spent massive fortunes on big-name stars, expecting them to win matches single-handedly. While some players did great, others cracked under the pressure of their massive price tags. They ended up being huge disappointments for their teams and fans. These high-profile players completely failed to perform well on the field despite being bought for humongous prices.

Auqib Nabi had a tremendous Ranji Trophy for Jammu and Kashmir and, as a result, was in immense demand in the IPL 2026 auction. He was subsequently bought by Delhi Capitals for a staggering price of INR 8.40 crore. The medium pacer could not match the expectations in IPL 2026, though, failing to pick up a single wicket for the Delhi-based franchise in five matches that he featured in, conceding runs at an economy rate of 11.46.
