The NBA has often fined its players for several infractions, most commonly for criticizing officials and engaging in conduct detrimental to the league and their teams.
Some players have also received fines for off-court activity. Multiple players have been slapped with a $100,000 penalty, the maximum player fine for “conduct or statements prejudicial or detrimental to the best interests of basketball, the NBA, or a team and violations of the tampering rules,” according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
