Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh said he was shocked after seeing veteran speedster Mohammed Siraj bowling just two overs in the IPL 2026 clash between the Gujarat Titans and the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on Tuesday, March 31. The cricketer-turned-commentator wondered whether Siraj sustained an injury during his time on the field.

Gujarat Titans were defending a modest target of 163 runs against the strong batting lineup of Punjab Kings. They needed their premier fast bowler to strike upfront, but that wasn’t the case. Siraj ended up conceding 15 runs in his two overs with the new balls. He was taken off the attack and didn’t return to bowl throughout the innings.

In the end, Punjab won with three wickets and five balls to spare despite a wobble in the middle overs. Cooper Connolly was the star of the show, as his unbeaten 72 off 44 balls paved the hosts’ way to victory.

“Mohammed Siraj did not bowl much. This is beyond my understanding. Although he bowled two overs, I think he should have been used more. We don’t know if it was due to an injury or something else. It might have made a difference had he bowled,” Harbhajan said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Abhi abhi to commentary kar rahe the: Harbhajan lauds Yuzvendra Chahal

Harbhajan heaped praise on Punjab’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who picked up the big wickets of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler in the first innings. The former Mumbai Indians captain mentioned how Chahal was doing commentary very recently, but showed no signs of rust on his return to competitive cricket.

“Abhi abhi to commentary kar rahe the (He was doing commentary recently). He returned to the field and did it in the same style. He is an exceptional bowler and got the wicket of Buttler,” Harbhajan commented in the same video.

Punjab Kings will return to action on Friday as they face the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. On the other hand, Gujarat will look to bounce back strongly when they take on the Rajasthan Royals at their home ground – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
