STATEMENT: GFA Congratulates UDS on Historic World University Football Championship Triumph
SHARE

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) extends its warmest congratulations to the University for Development Studies (UDS) for their outstanding achievement in winning the World University Football Championship in China.

Earlier in the tournament, the GFA had congratulated UDS for qualifying for the quarter-finals and urged the team to go for the ultimate – a feat they have now accomplished with remarkable determination and skill.

With Schools and Colleges being a Member of the Association, football at all educational institutions falls under the GFA’s football structure. The Association has been keenly following UDS’s journey and supporting their participation at the global championship.

Ahead of the competition, the GFA provided UDS with essential football kits and made the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram available for a residential camping programme to aid their preparation for the tournament.

We are immensely proud of UDS for this historic achievement. Your victory in China underscores the quality and potential of Ghanaian football at all levels. It also affirms the importance of investing in grassroots and tertiary-level football to build a strong foundation for our national game.

The GFA will continue to work closely with Schools and Colleges to identify and nurture talents who will go on to represent Ghana at the highest levels. This victory by UDS is an inspiration to the entire football fraternity.

We congratulate the players, technical team, management, and all stakeholders of UDS for their remarkable achievement and encourage them to keep raising the bar for university football in Ghana and beyond.

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku
(CAF 2nd Vice President, GFA President)
