The Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Chennai Super Kings in Match 27 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Sunrisers recorded their second win of the season when they beat the in-form Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs at their home ground. They were clinical with the bat, and debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain blew the Royals apart as they picked up four wickets apiece. They will be looking to carry forward their momentum from this win in their match against the Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings are coming into this clash on the back of two dominant wins at home. Sanju Samson notched up his first major milestone in yellow with a clinical century against Delhi Capitals, while Noor Ahmad picked up figures of 3/21 in a masterful display of spin bowling against Kolkata Knight Riders. Their players are contributing with both bat and ball, and they will be looking to continue on that momentum with their first win away from home in 2026.

Pitch Report

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has traditionally been a bat-first ground, a trend which has seen a sharp change with the wickets getting flatter over the last few seasons. The black-soil wicket slows down as the innings progresses, and offers early bounce and carry. At its best, the ball comes onto the bat at ease, but at its worst, the spongy bounce takes effect. It aids hit-the-deck bowling, and spinners tend to get grip. The boundaries are relatively on the larger side, and the ball travels fast through the outfield.

Strategies and match-ups

The Sunrisers were the talk of the town as debuting quicks Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain ran through the Royals with four wickets apiece. They trusted their inexperienced names, and both being skilled bowlers would be eager to show the world that their outing was not just a one-off. The Super Kings have found an ounce of momentum after a slow start to the season, and will be looking to carry it forward.

The two teams have played each other 22 times, with Super Kings having won 15 to Sunrisers’ seven. The teams have won three apiece in the last six clashes between them. Both teams are coming off the back of dominant victories. While Sunrisers will be looking to prove that their win against the Royals was not a fluke, Super Kings will be looking to extend their winning run and make a claim for a respectable finish.
