It was a heartwarming moment when Jackson Warne, son of late Australian spin great Shane Warne, thanked Rajasthan Royals batting coach Vikram Rathour for having him at the stadium.
In a video posted by on social media platform Instagram on Monday, Jackson is talking to Vikram about coming back to India after 15 years.
“Nice to meet you and thank you for having me, feels good to be here,” Jackson said to Vikram.
Vikram responded and said,”You are family,” to which Jackson said,” Feels special being back here. I havent been here since the 2011 season, when it was dad’s last year (as a player). So it’s been like 15 years.”
Jackson came to visit India for three days after 15 years. He spent time with the franchise watching their games from stands and reminiscing his dad’s time with franchise with the likes of head coach .
Australian great and the first-ever captain to win the Indian Premier League title, Shane Warne remains one of the most important figure in the history of the Rajasthan Royals with their association lasting more than a decade. Warne donned many hats during his time with the Royals including captain, player cum coach and mentor.
The spin maestro passed away in 2022 leaving a long lasting legacy and Rajasthan Royals honoured him by naming a gallery after him.
Jackson shared a heartfelt message about the gallery and said,” It was cool sort of looking at our tickets and it saying Shane Warne Gallery on the ticket. Very special for me.”
Shane Warne led Rajasthan Royals surprised everyone in 2008 winning the first IPL title defeating in the final with team consisting of young Indian players such as and .
However, it has been a poor season for the Royals in IPL 2025 as they are already eliminated of the playoffs race winning just three matches of twelve played.
