In what is good news for the IPL, it can be confirmed that most international stars except a couple of Australians like Josh Hazlewood are expected to be back in time for the 17 May resumption. However, what is unclear is how many of them will stay on post 25 May, with all original NOCs granted to the players by their respective boards expiring on the date. While the BCCI are on good terms with most and each is receptive to the requirements, key international assignments mean a number of players can miss out on the play offs.Ā
West Indies and England are set to face off in a white-ball series starting May 29. With both teams currently struggling in the rankings, the series takes on added significance. The losing side could find itself having to go through qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup, making it crucial for both teams to field their strongest squads.
Australia and South Africa, the two teams involved in the WTC final, will also want their players to assemble in England by early June and will not risk key players for the final week of the IPL.Ā
Accordingly, while most will play for their respective teams come this Saturday, donāt be surprised if some of them leave Indian shores for national duty come the 26-27 May.
