Eesa Butt, son of Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, struck 279 off 146 deliveries for Hellenic Academy U14 against CBC U14 in Bulawayo on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The innings contained 30 fours and 20 sixes and anchored Hellenic Academy to a commanding total of 518 in their 50 overs.

CBC U14 were bowled out for 85 in 18 overs in reply, handing Hellenic Academy a victory by 433 runs. The margin reflected a complete mismatch between the two sides across both innings, with Hellenic dominant in every phase of the fixture.

How did Eesa Butt construct his innings?

Eesa walked in at No.3 from the second over and was still at the crease when Hellenic reached 122 for 3 in the 16th over. This was after the two openers were dismissed cheaply.

From that position, Eesa combined with Tawananyasha Zvobgo in a fourth-wicket partnership of 307 runs off 162 deliveries. Zvobgo’s share was 92 off 66 balls, an innings that included 11 fours and 4 sixes. Further down the order, Michael Mhishi contributed a brisk 33 off 23 balls to push Hellenic past 500.

How did CBC U14 fare in their run chase?

Set 519 to win, CBC U14 folded inside 18 overs, posting just 85 all out. Among their batters, Kupakwashe Mutaurwa alone crossed ten runs, finishing on 15 not out as wickets fell steadily around him throughout the chase.

Hellenic Academy’s bowlers conceded 45 extras during the CBC innings, made up of 28 wides, 3 no-balls and 10 byes. The extras tally on both sides underlined the nature of an age-group fixture, yet the gulf in batting quality between the two teams was stark. Eesa’s 279 accounted for more than half of Hellenic’s 518-run total and set the tone for a result that was never in doubt once the hosts had completed their innings.

Eesa admires Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Babar Azam. However, the former India captain is his all-time favourite cricketer. Eesa would want to build on this performance and go from strength to strength in the games to come.
