William Saliba has pulled off a record-breaking achievement at Arsenal. The French center-back has reached his 100th Premier League game as Arsenal edged Newcastle 1-0. His performance was characteristically excellent, and the victory was a personal landmark that places him on the same level as Arsenal’s legends.

Saliba has now gained 68 victories from his first 100 Premier League matches. That tally is the same as the record shared by Arsenal legends Sol Campbell and Lauren. Both of those players were integral members of the legendary 2003/04 Invincibles team.

The 23-year-old becomes the 71st player for Arsenal to reach 100 appearances in England’s top flight. But not many have accomplished that with such consistency and impact in such a short period.

How many other Arsenal centurions can you name, Gooners? 👇

Sol Campbell and Lauren set the standard nearly two decades ago. Campbell reached 100 league appearances in a 1-0 win at Manchester City in 2004. He was a pillar of strength at the back and won two Premier League crowns and three FA Cups.

Lauren, who played right-back, marked his 100th appearance with the 2-2 Tottenham draw in 2004. The game won Arsenal the title and confirmed their record breaking league season. He also won two league titles and three FA Cups while in North London.

Saliba has now matched their record for most wins in a player’s first 100 Premier League games. This places him among the club’s best defenders in the modern era.

Saliba signed for Arsenal in 2019 but did not make his debut until 2022. He went on loan spells in France to accrue experience. When he finally played for Arsenal, he did not disappoint. His debut was in a 2-0 away victory over Crystal Palace. He has since become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s system.

His collaboration with Gabriel Magalhães has revamped Arsenal’s defense. Both of them have turned Arsenal into one of the top defensive sides in England. Saliba’s comfort on the ball, positioning, and physicality make him one of the most trusted centre-backs in Europe.

He has also assisted Arsenal in leading two consecutive Premier League title chases. Had he not been present last season, Arsenal’s title challenge ended in shambles. He’s absolutely indispensable to this Arsenal team.

Saliba’s performances have been noticed in Europe. Arsenal are keen to retain him in the long term. Contract negotiations are taking place, with the club eager to tie his future up. Saliba seems determined and dedicated to success at the Gunners.

He looks to win trophies and put his name on more of his accumulated success. Arsenal last won the Premier League in 2004. Saliba wants to bring the club to the heights they were once taken by Campbell and Lauren. He also desires Champions League victory. Arsenal came back to the tournament this year and made it to the quarter-finals. Saliba was instrumental in that effort. More is required next year as the squad builds on itself.

Only 23, Saliba’s potential is vast. He already plays with the experience of a veteran. His game sense, calmness under duress, and leadership attribute make him a potential captain in the future. His composure is frequently singled out for praise by fans and analysts. He makes minimal errors and always produces in high-stakes games. Arsenal have long labored at the back, but Saliba has altered that narrative.

William Saliba’s 100 Premier League games have been more than statistics. With 68 victories, he joins Arsenal legends Lauren and Campbell on a list. He is now among a proud defensive legacy at the club. If it continues, Saliba won’t just equal records — he’ll shatter them. He possesses the ability, mentality, and platform to become an Arsenal great.
