The Board of Control for Cricket in India has removed Rohit Yadav from India’s Under-19 squads for the upcoming home series against Australia Under-19 after age discrepancies were detected in his documentation, making him ineligible to represent the side at this level.

Aryan Savsani and Tanmay Baloda have been named as his replacements across both the One-Day and Multi-Day squads for the series. The BCCI acted swiftly once the irregularities were identified, ensuring both squads remained at full strength ahead of the fixtures.

The home series against Australia Under-19s will be played across two formats, giving Savsani and Baloda an immediate opportunity to press their claims at the international age-group level on home soil.

Why was Rohit Yadav removed from the India U19 squad?

Yadav’s removal follows the BCCI’s firm policy on age eligibility in domestic and age-group cricket. Age fraud has been a persistent concern across Indian cricket’s grassroots structure, and the board has consistently acted against players whose documentation does not meet the required standards for Under-19 competition.

Under-19 cricket carries strict eligibility criteria, and any player found to have submitted inaccurate age records is disqualified from selection regardless of their cricketing ability. In Yadav’s case, discrepancies were identified in his age-related documentation, and the BCCI moved to remove him from both squads without delay. The replacements were confirmed at the same time, reflecting the board’s intent to keep the selection process transparent and the squads fully operational before the series begins.

Who are Aryan Savsani and Tanmay Baloda?

Savsani and Baloda have been drafted into both the One-Day and Multi-Day squads as direct replacements for Yadav. Their inclusion across both formats suggests the selectors regard them as adaptable options capable of contributing at Under-19 level in different conditions and match situations.

Representing India Under-19 in a home series is a significant milestone for any young cricketer working through the age-group pathway, and both players will be looking to make an impression against an Australian side.
