The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad is reportedly stuck in Lucknow. The team was in the city ahead of their scheduled IPL 2025 clash with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). However, with the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) being suspended midway due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, all the remaining fixtures, including the LSG vs RCB clash, will have to be rescheduled.Ā

Meanwhile, the the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is making prompt and secure arrangements to ensure that players and support staff of the participating teams reach to their destinations safely. The RCB franchise is understood to be waiting for further instructions from the board officials.

This development comes after the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), scheduled at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on May 8, was cancelled after just 10.1 overs of play. While a technical failure was believed to be the reason behind the game’s abandonment, it was later confirmed that a blackout was imposed in the region amid the rising tensions between the bordering nations. Subsequently, the players and spectators were asked to evacuate the stadium.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced that the tournament has been suspended for one week as authorities continue to monitor the current situation.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week.Ā Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders,” a BCCI release stated.

“The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders,” it added.
