President of the Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Friday, August 22, 2025, paid a working visit to Asante Kotoko SC to inspire the team ahead of their participation in the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ghanaian football leader spent the day with the Porcupine Warriors at their training camp in Akropong, engaging with players and technical staff as they stepped up preparations for Africa’s prestigious inter-club competition.

In his address, President Simeon- Okraku urged the squad to rise to the challenge and make Ghanaians proud by representing the nation with distinction on the continental stage.

He reminded the players of their responsibility to millions of fans across Ghana and beyond, assuring them of the Football Association’s full backing throughout their campaign.

“As representatives of Ghana on the African stage, you carry the hopes of an entire nation,” he told the players. “We at the FA are firmly behind you and believe you have what it takes to succeed.”

Drawing inspiration from Dreams FC’s fairytale run in the competition two seasons ago, President Simeon- Okraku emphasized unity, discipline and teamwork as essential ingredients for success.

“The expectations of the great Ashanti Kingdom and Ghanaians are huge,” he added. “When you stay united and work for each other, you can achieve anything. You have the capacity to restore Kotoko’s pride on the continent. Listen to the technical team and work towards making all of us happy.”

Asante Kotoko will begin their Confederation Cup journey against Nigerian side Kwara United in the preliminary round. The Porcupines will host the first leg in Ghana between September 19–21, before traveling to Ilorin for the return fixture from September 26–28, 2025.

This visit forms part of the President’s broader initiative to motivate Ghana’s continental representatives. He has already extended similar support to Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League winners Police Ladies FC.

Kotoko’s participation in this season’s Confederation Cup marks their first appearance since 2022. Their return presents an opportunity to reaffirm their status as one of Africa’s traditional football powerhouses and to bring renewed pride to Ghanaian football.
