Premier League: Razak Simpson ends Medeama’s 17-game unbeaten run as Nations FC claim home win

Medeama SC’s remarkable 17-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League came to a crashing halt on Friday afternoon after a spirited 2-1 defeat to Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

The league leaders struck first through in-form striker Kingsley Braye, who powered home a superb header in the 8th minute from an inch-perfect corner delivered by Fatawu Sulemana to give the Mauve and Yellow an early advantage.

Nations FC, however, responded with resilience and authority, inspired by their captain Razak Simpson. The defender restored parity in the 19th minute, rising highest to meet a corner kick with a thumping header that beat goalkeeper Felix Kyei.

Just before the break, Simpson completed a memorable brace. Nations FC were awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute, and the skipper calmly dispatched the spot kick into the bottom corner to turn the game on its head and send the hosts into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

After the restart, Medeama SC piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser, but Nations FC’s defence held firm under sustained attacks. The home side showed discipline and composure to protect their advantage and secure all three points at full time.

The loss marks only Medeama SC’s second defeat of the season and their first in 18 matches, bringing an end to an impressive unbeaten run that had stretched back to September 2025.
