Premier League: Medeama host Aduana in Tarkwa top-of-the-table clash as survival fight intensifies in Swedru

League leaders Medeama SC return to action determined to reassert their dominance after their remarkable 17-game unbeaten run (W10, D7) was halted in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

Despite taking an early lead in that encounter, Ibrahim Tanko’s men were undone — suffering only their second league defeat of the campaign after 21 matches. Yet, even in defeat, Medeama’s authority at the top remains intact. With 12 wins and seven draws, they still command a comfortable seven-point lead at the summit.

Back on home soil at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, the Mauve and Yellow will feel confident of a swift response. They boast the best home record in the league, remaining unbeaten with eight wins and three draws from 11 matches. Tarkwa has been a fortress.

History also favors Medeama in this fixture. They have beaten Aduana FC in four of their last five league meetings at home, keeping clean sheets in the last three — including back-to-back 2-0 victories.

However, this is no ordinary Aduana side.

The Fire Club climbed to second place with 36 points following a disciplined goalless draw against FC Samartex 1996 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. They arrive in Tarkwa on a two-game unbeaten run, having kept clean sheets in both matches (W1, D1).

Under Cioba Aristica, Aduana have developed into one of the league’s strongest traveling sides. With four away victories, the joint second-highest tally in the league, alongside two draws and four defeats, they have shown resilience on the road. A fifth away win would significantly tighten the title race and send a bold statement to the league leaders.

At the opposite end of the table, survival is the only currency that matters.

Eleven Wonders’ struggles deepened after a crushing 3-0 defeat to Young Apostles in Wenchi,  their third consecutive league loss and eighth defeat in the last ten matches (W2). The Premier League returnees sit bottom with just nine points from 21 games.

The numbers paint a grim picture of the lowest  goals scored in the league (14), most goals conceded (35) and only two wins all season.

Both wins, however, came at home, a slender thread of hope they will cling to as they attempt to halt a dismal three-game losing streak.

Standing in their way is Vision FC, a side hovering just one point above the relegation zone but showing far greater resilience. Vision FC have suffered only one defeat in their last six league matches (W2, D3).

In their most recent outing, they displayed grit and character, fighting back to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Dreams FC.

The Tema-based outfit will travel to Agona Swedru with confidence, unbeaten in their last three away league fixtures (W1, D2). That record contrasts sharply with Eleven Wonders’ alarming home form, having lost four of their last five at their own ground.

Vision FC rank among the league’s top ten away performers and will be eager to complete a league double over their struggling hosts.
