Premier League: Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC settle for stalemate in Accra

Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC played out an entertaining goalless draw at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday evening, with both sides creating chances but ultimately failing to find the breakthrough in a tightly contested Premier League encounter.

The match unfolded in contrasting halves, with Hearts of Oak enjoying the better of the opening exchanges. The Phobians controlled possession and dictated the tempo early on, coming close to taking the lead in the 10th minute when Hussein Mohammed raced clear following a Dreams FC corner. However, goalkeeper Rahman Osman reacted superbly to deny him in a one-on-one situation.

Chances remained limited in the first half as Dreams FC stayed compact and disciplined defensively. Hearts threatened from set pieces, registering a shot on target that Osman handled comfortably, while the visitors carved out a late opportunity before the break, only for Abdul Razak Salifu to miscue his effort from a promising cut-back.

Dreams FC emerged with renewed intent after the interval and gradually took control of proceedings. John Antwi released Salifu with a clever through pass early in the second half, but Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was quick off his line to block the attempt. Salifu later thought he had broken the deadlock, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.

Benjamin Asare continued to deliver a commanding performance, producing sharp saves to deny both Antwi and Christian Owusu in quick succession as Dreams pressed for a winner. Hearts of Oak almost stole victory late on from a corner, but Osman Rahman once again rose to the occasion with an excellent save to keep his side level.

The draw sees Hearts of Oak move to 32 points, while Dreams FC climb to eighth on the league table with 24 points, level with Heart of Lions.
