Accra Lions delivered a much-needed lifeline in their relegation fight with a spirited 2-1 comeback win over Basake Holy Stars on Matchday 27 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The match got off to a lively start as Prince Tweneboah fired the visitors ahead in the 5th minute, silencing the home team with an early blow. Lions, however, refused to back down and showed resilience throughout the game.
Their efforts paid off in the second half when Hamzata Musah leveled the score in the 71st minute. Just five minutes later, Lucky Nwafor struck what proved to be the match-winner, completing a dramatic turnaround for the home side.
The victory is a crucial morale boost for Accra Lions, who are locked in a fierce battle to avoid relegation.
The win lifts them to 16th place on the table with 26 points. Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, remain in 12th position with 30 points, as the bottom half of the table remains tightly contested.
