In a high-scoring clash at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Punjab Kings (PBKS) produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 37 runs in IPL 2025.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, PBKS turned the tables with a batting masterclass, posting a massive total of 236/5 in 20 overs. Their batters came out all guns blazing, smashing boundaries and sixes across the ground, putting LSG under pressure right from the start. The total of 236 was one of the highest team scores this season and gave LSG a mountain to climb.

Chasing 237, LSG stumbled early under the lights as Arshdeep Singh delivered a fiery new-ball spell. The left-arm pacer dismissed Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession, leaving LSG reeling in the powerplay. Arshdeep’s figures were exceptional—threewickets for just 16 runs from his four overs, boasting a stunning economy rate of 4.00.

ā€œThere was some movement at the start, so really enjoyed it.ā€ – Arshdeep Singh

This performance further reinforced Arshdeep’s growing reputation as one of the most dependable bowlers in the IPL. After this match, he now has 16 wickets from 11 games at an average of 18.19 and an economy rate of 8.01. He currently sits third on the Purple Cap leaderboard and remains a strong contender for the award as the tournament progresses.

Speaking after the match, Arshdeep reflected on the conditions and team effort: ā€œFor a change, there was some movement at the start, so really enjoyed it. In the second innings, the conditions get colder, so it swings more. It surely gives us a lot of confidence, but there are still phases where we can improve as a team.ā€
