The stage is set for the 5th edition of the Access Bank Division One League playoff as Tamale City face Debibi United on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Debibi United sealed qualification from Zone One B with an impressive 60 points, while Tamale City secured their playoff slot from Zone One A with 55 points, setting up a thrilling battle for promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

The playoff was first introduced in the 2021/22 season, when Nsoatreman FC defeated Tamale City 2-1 to secure their maiden GPL qualification.

In the following season, Bofoakwa Tano returned to the Premier League after 16 years by beating Eleven Wonders 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time.

Young Apostles then made history in the 2023/24 season by earning their first-ever GPL promotion after defeating Techiman Heroes 4-3 on penalties, following another 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

The fourth edition saw Eleven Wonders return to the top flight with a 2-1 victory over Real Tamale United.

Now, all eyes turn to Wednesday’s showdown in Accra as Tamale City and Debibi United battle for the final golden ticket to the Ghana Premier League for the 2026/27 season.
