Pakistan clinched the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a dominant 82-run victory in the second match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The win sealed the series 2-0 with one game still remaining, and it handed captain Sahibzada Farhan his first series victory in the role. Pakistan had already taken a 1-0 lead by winning the opening T20I by four wickets on Friday, October 09.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision that did not work in their favour. Pakistan made one change to their XI for the contest, with Salman Mirza coming in to replace Razaullah. Kusal Mendis and his side were unable to contain the Pakistan top order, who batted with authority throughout their 20 overs. Pakistan finished on 215/3, and Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 133/7 in their chase, falling 82 runs short of the target.
How did Pakistan post 215/3 against Sri Lanka?
Maaz Sadaqat was the central figure in Pakistan’s batting effort, compiling 96 off 51 balls. He hit six fours and seven sixes across his innings, producing one of the most destructive knocks of the series and keeping the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace throughout his stay. Sadaqat fell just four runs short of what would have been a maiden T20I century, but his contribution proved decisive in setting an imposing target.
Farhan, opening alongside Sadaqat, contributed 73 off 44 deliveries. He struck four boundaries and five sixes during his innings, providing the ideal foil to Sadaqat’s aggression at the top of the order. Together, the two batters constructed a partnership that put the Sri Lanka attack under sustained pressure and set the platform for Pakistan’s imposing total of 215/3. The Sri Lanka bowlers had no answer to the relentless strokeplay from both openers, and the damage done in the powerplay and middle overs proved impossible to recover from.
How did Pakistan’s bowlers restrict Sri Lanka to 133/7?
Mohammad Imran led the bowling effort with a spell that proved difficult to score against. He took three wickets while conceding only 11 runs across his four overs, finishing with an economy rate of 2.75, the most miserly return among the Pakistan bowlers on the day. His control with the new ball and through the middle overs set the tone for a disciplined team bowling performance.

Mirza, making his return to the XI in place of Razaullah, also contributed meaningfully with the ball. He picked up two wickets for 28 runs from three overs, reinforcing the disciplined nature of Pakistan’s bowling unit throughout the innings. The Sri Lanka top and middle order were unable to build any meaningful partnerships against the varied Pakistan attack.
Sri Lanka’s lower order showed some fight in the closing stages. Chamindu Wickramasinghe scored 29 off 24 balls, and Maheesh Theekshana closed the innings unbeaten on 32 from 26 deliveries. Despite their contributions, no Sri Lanka batter was able to build a partnership of substance earlier in the innings, and the side was eventually dismissed for 133/7, giving Pakistan a comprehensive series victory at Rawalpindi.
