The second edition of the Free Licence D Coaching Course for Colts club coaches in the Northern Region has officially commenced. The fully sponsored program is currently underway at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

This week-long training, which began on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, forms part of the GFA’s ongoing nationwide initiative to build capacity at the grassroots level by equipping juvenile coaches with essential knowledge and coaching techniques. The program emphasizes youth player development, safety and injury prevention, and the principles of grassroots football.

Led by certified GFA instructors, the course combines theoretical lessons with practical sessions to provide coaches with a holistic understanding of modern coaching methodologies tailored to the development of young talents.

NRFA Chairman Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, in his remarks at the opening ceremony, commended the GFA for prioritizing youth football development and empowering local coaches with critical skills. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity and commit to raising the standards of juvenile football in the Northern Region.

The Northern Region joins a growing list of regions across the country benefitting from the GFA’s landmark initiative, which underscores the Association’s commitment to sustainable football development from the grassroots to the national level.
