Los Angeles Dodgers executive Rocco Baldelli has withdrawn from the Seattle Mariners’ managerial search, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Baldelli was among the most credentialed outside candidates linked to the vacancy, and his decision leaves Joe Espada and Jason Kanzler as the only publicly known names still in the process.
Rocco Baldelli cited “family considerations at this moment in time” as his reason for withdrawal. Neither Baldelli nor the Mariners have commented publicly on the withdrawal. Seattle has not confirmed a shortlist at any stage, and president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has said there is “no timeline” on the hire.
Following the news, fans took to social media, commenting on Rocco Baldelli’s withdrawal from the managerial position.
