MTN Elite U19: Programme outline announced
SHARE

The programme outline for the maiden edition of the MTN Elite U19 Championship has been officially announced by the Football Association.

The 11-day tournament, which will feature ten (10) Regional Football Association (RFA) U19 teams, is scheduled to take place from October 23 to November 2, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Activities leading up to the competition will commence with a media soiree, official launch, and draw, all scheduled for Tuesday, October 14. The build-up will continue with a stakeholder engagement session between the Organising Committee and the ten Regional Football Association (RFA) chairmen on Wednesday, October 15, aimed at finalising the operational, logistical and technical arrangements for the championship.

Participating teams are expected to report to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Thursday, October 23, ahead of the official kickoff on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Proudly sponsored by telecommunications giant MTN, the MTN Elite U19 Championship serves as a flagship youth development initiative designed to unearth, nurture, and elevate young footballers from the grassroots. The competition offers a dedicated platform for second-division and regional-level players to showcase their abilities, gain valuable competitive experience, and attract interest from national youth teams, elite academies, and professional clubs.

The championship forms part of the Football Association’s broader “Power to the Youth” policy and aligns with key national and international football development initiatives, including the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), the Elite Academies Project and the Catch Them Young Refereeing Programme.

The tournament is expected to be a major milestone in Ghana’s football development pathway,  bridging grassroots participation and elite performance and setting the stage for the discovery of the next generation of national football stars.
