Former Ghanaian international Michael Essien visited the team hotel in West London on Friday, meeting with players and joining the training session ahead of the Unity Cup third-place match against Trinidad and Tobago.

Essien, who currently works with Danish side FC Nordsjælland, spent time with the technical staff, President Kurt Okraku, and former teammate Stephen Appiah, who is also Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee.

The Black Stars have been based in London since last Saturday for the 2025 Unity Cup mini tournament. After losing to Nigeria on Wednesday, they are set to face Trinidad and Tobago at the GTech Community Stadium in West London on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

The former Chelsea, Olympique Lyon, AC Milan, and Real Madrid midfielder earned 59 caps and scored 9 goals for Ghana during his 13-year international career.
