Manchester United have reportedly set a €50 million price tag on Brazilian attacker Antony for the summer transfer window. According to Valentin Furlan (via Rudy Galetti on X), some clubs have already started showing interest in the former Ajax winger.
Antony joined the Red Devils from Eredivisie giants Ajax for a reported transfer fee of €95 million in August 2022. However, the Brazilian attacker barely lived up to the expectations at Old Trafford. In his first season in England, Antony scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 47 games across competitions.
During the 2023-24 campaign, the Brazilian attacker suffered criticism from the media and former footballers for his performance. Antony fell back in the pecking order, bagging only five goal contributions in 38 games for United across competitions.
Last season, he didn’t start a single Premier League game for the Red Devils in the first half of the campaign. In January, United agreed on a loan deal for Antony to Real Betis. The 25-year-old reinvented himself at Real Betis, becoming one of their most crucial players in the second half of the season.
Making 26 appearances for Los Verdiblancos, the former Ajax winger scored nine goals and provided six assists. Real Betis secured a UEFA Europa League spot by finishing sixth in LaLiga and also reached the finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
With his performances for Los Verdiblancos last season, the winger has garnered the interest of different clubs.
New Manchester United signing Matheus Cunha has revealed that playing for the Red Devils has been his childhood dream. After completing his medical at the Old Trafford outfit’s training facility on Thursday (June 12), he claimed that Manchester United have always been his favorite English club.
The Brazilian attacker said (via BBC Sport):
Matheus Cunha has joined the Old Trafford outfit after they triggered his release clause of €83.5 million. The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils, which also includes an option for a further 12-month extension.
Cunha, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent transfer from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2023 after a successful loan spell, spent two years at Molineux. In 92 appearances for the Wolves, he scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists.
