Manchester United have reportedly begun searching for alternatives to Bryan Mbeumo after Tottenham Hotspur’s latest bid. The Red Devils are unlikely to match the £70 million offer from the London side and are now turning to Plan B.
As per a report in ESPN via GOAL, Manchester United are set to switch focus to Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze. They see the Bournemouth and Crystal Palace stars as cheaper alternatives to the Cameroon winger.
Thomas Frank has been appointed as the manager of Tottenham, and he is keen on taking his star player with him across London. Spurs have reportedly launched a £70 million bid, which is the asking price set by Brentford.
Manchester United made a £55 million bid for Mbeumo, but the Premier League side rejected their offer. They are now turning their attention elsewhere, despite the Cameroon star being interested in making the switch to Old Trafford.
Semenyo is reported to be available for £50 million as AFC Bournemouth brace themselves for bids. Liverpool were also linked with the forward, while Paul Scholes urged his former side to pay what it takes to sign Eze from Crystal Palace.
Ben Foster was on talkSPORT and claimed that Bryan Mbeumo should follow Thomas Frank to Tottenham. He claimed that the move to Spurs made more sense for the winger than joining Manchester United and said via TBR Football:
England legend Stuart Pearce was also of the same opinion and said that the winger should stick with Frank and move to Tottenham. He said on talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show:
Bryan Mbeumo has played 242 matches in his career under Thomas Frank at Brentford. He has scored 70 goals and assisted 51 times in those games.
