Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das scored 102 off 117 balls in the second innings against Afghanistan at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, October 12, 2026. The century came off 115 balls with a late-cut boundary off Qais Ahmad and included 14 fours. Das reached this milestone after being dropped on 14 and 26, and surviving a run-out chance on 46.

The knock marked his seventh Test century and represented a return to form following three successive ducks during Bangladesh’s previous tour of Australia. Earlier in the match, Das had completed four catches and one stumping in Afghanistan’s first innings, which totalled 240 in response to Bangladesh’s first-innings score of 346.

Das built a 149-run partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the seventh wicket. Miraz remained unbeaten on 52 off 92 balls, recording his 11th Test half-century. Bangladesh declared their second innings at 372 for 7, setting Afghanistan a target of 479 runs to win the match.

“It [wicketkeeping] definitely helps because behind the wickets, I can understand a lot of things, and get an idea about the pitch. That helps me a lot in my batting,” said Das as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“The wicket is not very spin-friendly. But by day five, sometimes balls start turning a lot from the rough patches. I hope that our spinners are already bowling in good areas, and by bowling in even better areas they will create pressure, and if they get a little help from the wicket, then the job will be easier for them,” he added.

Afghanistan’s second innings began on Day 4 stumps with the team at 132 for 3. Abdul Malik was dismissed for 2 by Ebadot Hossain in the opening over, while Shahidullah fell for 19 to Hasan Mahmud. Rahmat Shah scored 51 off 124 balls with five fours and one six before being caught behind by Das. Sediqullah Atal remained unbeaten on 35 off 126 balls, and Hashmatullah Shahidi was 19 not out off 27 balls, with the pair sharing an 82-run stand. Afghanistan required 347 additional runs to reach Bangladesh’s target as the match progressed into its final stages.

“I’m quite happy the way I’m going, but I hope I continue this for tomorrow as well because we’re just looking at how we can draw this match and how we can just bat longer and longer till the last session. So this is our main focus and we’re just trying to do the basics right like we almost did today,” said Atal.

“If you look, he [Rahmat] is in such good form and he can tell you everything about the situation, about every bowler. So you will be very relaxed with him when you’re batting with Shah Ji. So I’m quite lucky that I get the chance every time to bat with him,” he added.
