Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 57th match of the IPL 2025 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 7.

Here are the top 3 battles to watch for in today’s KKR vs CSK clash in the IPL 2025

MS Dhoni vs Varun Chakaravarthy

Dhoni has scored 163 runs from 11 matches this season. Varun, on the other hand, has been impactful in almost every match, taking wickets consistently. So far, he has claimed 15 wickets from 11 matches with an economy rate of 7.23 and is one of the main pillars of KKR’s bowling attack. In previous IPL encounters, Dhoni has faced Varun in five innings and has been dismissed three times while scoring only 12 runs off 19 balls at a strike rate of 63.15.

Andre Russell vs Matheesha Pathirana

Andre Russell is vital to KKR’s batting lineup. Although he was out of form earlier in the season, he bounced back with a blistering fifty against Rajasthan Royals in the last match. Pathirana has taken 12 wickets from nine matches this season and has shown great control at the death. In previous IPL meetings, Pathirana has bowled three balls to Russell and dismissed him once.

Ravindra Jadeja vs Sunil Narine

Jadeja has scored 260 runs from 11 matches at an average of 37.14 and a strike rate of 137.57. Narine, with 10 wickets from 10 matches and an economy rate of 7.59, remains a key asset for KKR. In past IPL encounters, Jadeja has faced 53 balls from Narine, scoring 49 runs and getting dismissed three times at a strike rate of 92.45.
