Ahead of play in Match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, players and support staff from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) came together to pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. The gesture was made after the success of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory military response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22.
The Indian military launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, targeting terror infrastructure across nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes were in reply to the brutal Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian tourists and a Nepali citizen.
Meanwhile, before the two sides took the field, they proudly stood in silence as the national anthem played with the giant screen displaying the message āProud of the Indian Armed Forces.”
