The 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship officially commenced on Saturday, September 20, with a ceremonial kick-off led by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

President Simeon-Okraku was joined by Nii Sarpei, Programmes Manager of the KGL Foundation, as dignitaries, coaches and young footballers gathered to launch what has become one of Ghana’s premier youth competitions.

This year’s tournament spans nine action-packed days and features an expanded roster of 12 teams, bringing together U-17 selections from all ten Regional Football Associations alongside the GFA Elite Academies representing the Northern Region and Greater Accra.

Over the past four years, the KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship has earned a reputation as a proving ground for emerging stars, with numerous alumni progressing to Ghana’s junior national teams, excelling in domestic leagues, and even earning opportunities with professional clubs abroad.

The KGL Foundation’s continued partnership with the Football Association reflects a shared commitment to youth development and grassroots football. By providing high-level competition and nationwide scouting opportunities, the championship helps identify and nurture the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.
