Karen Khachanov has risen like the proverbial phoenix from the ashes at the US Open 2026. He arrived at the tournament on a four-match losing streak and ranked No. 50. He has turned his middling season around with a trip to the semifinals in New York, his second semifinal at the tournament.
Khachanov ousted the likes of third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and 14th seed Learner Tien to make the last four here. He will take on top seed Alexander Zverev for a spot in the final on Friday, September 11. The Russian has often been overlooked despite compiling a strong resume over the years. He won his maiden, and so far only, Masters 1000 title at the Paris Masters 2018.
