Japan Open 2026 LIVE: PV Sindhu is in her first BWF Super 750 career final and she’ll go up against long-time rival Akane Yamaguchi for the women’s singles crowd at the 2026 Japan Open on Sunday.
Sindhu, who has rode her luck this tournament with a walkover and an opponent withdrawal, has shown glimpses of her old self this week.
She registered her first win over China’s Chen Yu Fei, the former Olympic championship, in over seven years in the semi-final as the latter withdrew while trailing the Indian.
In the final, the double Olympic medallist from India will have her task cut out against the home favourite Yamaguchi.
The two veterans have faced off against each other 29 times, with Sindhu holding a slight 15-14 advantage in head-to-head encounters.
