Jamil Maraby will be officially unveiled as President of the Marketing Committee of WAFU Zone B in a special ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026, at the WAFU B Headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The event marks a significant milestone in strengthening the governance and operational effectiveness of the sub-regional football body, following the formal establishment of its committees.

Maraby’s appointment, which was confirmed in December last year, reflects WAFU Zone B’s confidence in his ability to lead the marketing drive of the zone.

The decision to appoint him was taken at the 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU Zone B held in Rabat, Morocco. His role forms part of a broader strategic effort to enhance the commercial structure of the organization.

The creation of the Marketing Committee represents a historic first for WAFU Zone B, aimed at strengthening its commercial framework and improving the visibility and marketability of its competitions and programmes.

Maraby will work alongside Abdoulaye Diabaté of Côte d’Ivoire and Tiendrebeogo Jérôme of Burkina Faso, who have been named as members of the committee. Together, they will be responsible for developing marketing strategies, attracting sponsorships, and securing commercial partnerships to support WAFU Zone B activities.

Widely regarded as one of the leading sports marketing professionals in the region, Maraby brings a wealth of experience to the position.

In his role as Director of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association, he has played a pivotal role in securing major sponsorship and partnership deals that have enhanced the commercial appeal and financial sustainability of Ghana football.

His appointment is expected to significantly boost WAFU Zone B’s commercial prospects, with optimism that his leadership will unlock new revenue streams and strengthen the branding of competitions across the zone.
