Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has taken a cheeky dig at Cristiano Ronaldo again and named his former teammate Lionel Messi as the best in the world. He added that Messi’s presence will be important for the Club World Cup.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Aguero claimed that Inter Miami were unable to win silverware before Messi arrived, and he had shown what he was capable of. He added that the Club World Cup will be an important tournament for the MLS side and said:
Lionel Messi helped Inter Miami win the Leagues Cup in 2023, just days after joining the club, and then played a key role in winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2024. Cristiano Ronaldo is still looking to win a major trophy with Al Nassr and has only managed the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he is unlikely to play at the FIFA Club World Cup this month. He admitted that there were offers for him to join several sides, but he was not planning a move because of his other goals. He said (via Fabrizio Romano):
Wydad Casablanca and Al Hilal were the concrete offers, per GOAL, while former Manchester United defender Rafael pushed Cristiano Ronaldo to join Botafogo in Brazil. Lionel Messi’s participation is confirmed, with Inter Miami grouped alongside Al Ahly, FC Porto and Palmeiras.
