IPL 2026: Why is Phil Salt not playing GT vs RCB Match 42?
SHARE

Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

GT are fifth on the table with four wins from eight matches, while losing as many matches. Meanwhile, RCB are in stunning form, and are at the second position with six wins from eight games.

GT vs RCB: Toss Update

GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first. He said that the pitch at the venue tends to support pacers early on, leading him to bowl first. The hosts did not make any changes to their playing XI from the last game. Rajat Patidar, too, mentioned that he would have fielded first.

GT vs RCB: Phil Salt still not included

The English opener Phil Salt was not included in the playing XI. He has now missed three consecutive games due to an undisclosed injury. Meanwhile, Jacob Bethell will continue to open alongside Virat Kohli at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

GT vs RCB: What did the captains say?

Shubman Gill, GT Captain

We are going to bowl first. The surface gives swing in the first 4-5 overs. Want to chase in case there is dew. These two games will determine how far we go in the tournament. They are playing some good cricket, they are the defending champions. The mood is nice and light. It’s about having the right attitude. Same team as the last game.

Rajat Patidar, RCB Captain

We were looking to field first. I don’t think the grass cover will help much. Hope we put up a good total on the board. The way we played the first half of IPL, that was good to see. It’s a positive sign for us, we are looking forward to it. We’re playing with the same team.
