IPL 2026: PBKS vs GT, Match 4: Stats preview of players' records and approaching milestones

The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is underway, with Gujarat Titans (GT) taking on Punjab Kings in Match No. 4 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, on Tuesday, March 31. Both teams will be eager to replicate their last season’s performance as both had successfully reached the play-offs stage in IPL 2025.

After falling heartbreakingly short of the IPL title by just six runs last season, Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings are set to reignite their quest for a maiden crown when they take on Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans in their opening match at their home venue.

Punjab have largely stuck with the same squad, backing the core group that carried them to only their second IPL final in 18 seasons. Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad-based franchise has also embraced continuity, with Gill’s side boasting impressive stability, particularly in a bowling attack widely regarded as one of the strongest in the competition.

Both teams will be determined to start fresh and strong and build momentum early in IPL 2026 and get their campaigns off to a flyer.

Here are the important upcoming milestones for players of both teams:

GT Players’ Upcoming Milestones

Shubman Gill: Needs 134 more runs to reach 4000 runs in IPL
Shubman Gill: Needs 88 more runs more to reach 5500 runs in T20 cricket
Jos Buttler: Needs 7 more sixes to reach 600 sixes in T20 cricket
Kagiso Rabada: Needs 1 more wicket to complete 300 wickets in 20-over cricket

PBKS Players’ Upcoming Milestones

Marcus Stoinis: Needs 3 more fours to reach 400 fours in T20 cricket
Arshdeep Singh: Needs 3 more wickets to reach 100 wickets in IPL
Shreyas Iyer: Needs 2 more fours to reach 550 fours in T20 cricket
