Mumbai Indians (MI) face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match No. 41 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, April 29.

The five-time champions are in a tough spot, having won only two out of the seven games they have played so far. Hardik Pandya will need to inspire his troops after they lost to arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings by 103 runs in their last game.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a dismal start to the campaign, winning just one of their first four games. However, they have bounced back tremendously and are currently on a four-match winning streak. In their most recent encounter, they defeated the dangerous Rajasthan Royals’ side by five wickets.

Here are 3 player battles for MI vs SRH, Match 41 of IPL 2026:

3. Eshan Malinga vs Rohit Sharma

Eshan Malinga is the leading wicket-taker for the Orange Army this season. He has 14 wickets from eight matches, tied with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Anshul Kamboj on the list of bowlers with the most scalps in IPL 2026. He will look to take wickets with the new ball.

However, he will be up against the legendary Rohit Sharma, who is expected to make his comeback in this game after recovering from a hamstring injury. Before his injury layoff, the Mumbai batter amassed 137 runs in four innings at an average of 34.25 and a strike rate of 165.07.

2. AM Ghazanfar vs Ishan Kishan

AM Ghazanfar has been the most impressive bowler for the Mumbai Indians this season. In five matches, he has picked up eight wickets at an average of 18.13. He has bowled quite a few of his overs inside the power play but maintained an overall economy rate of 8.61.

Ishan Kishan has been in scintillating form, smashing 312 runs in eight innings at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 198.73. He likes to take the attack to the bowlers from the get-go, and his battle with Ghazanfar will be intriguing to watch, especially if Mumbai pick up an early wicket and brings him out to bat inside the power play.

1. Jasprit Bumrah vs Abhishek Sharma

Jasprit Bumrah has picked up just two wickets from seven games this season. He is averaging a dismal 105. However, his economy rate of 8.08 is quite good for someone who bowls in the power play and also at the back end. Mumbai Indians would hope their talismanic pacer brings his A-game to the fore against a dangerous batting lineup like that of the Sunrisers.
