The Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) compete in Qualifier 2 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The winner of this tie will advance to the showpiece final in Ahmedabad, where they will face the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

GT vs RR: Toss Update

The Royals captain, Riyan Parag, won the toss and decided to bat first in New Chandigarh. The right-handed batter claimed that the pitch tends to slow slightly in the latter stages of the game, making it harder for batters in the second innings. GT captain Shubman Gill also wanted to bat first, but will now be tasked with restricting RR to the lowest score possible for them to chase down.

Sai Kishore returns to GT’s playing XI, RR make no changes

Spinner Sai Kishore, who has played just two matches in the IPL this season, makes a return to GT’s playing XI in place of Kulwant Khejroliya. With the pitch expected to play slowly, the Titans need to have a second specialist spinner to help Rashid Khan. RR, on the other hand, keep an unchanged lineup for their game against the 2022 champions.

GT vs RR: What did the captains say?

Riyan Parag, RR captain

“We will bat first. Pretty much the same wicket, but I think it slows down at the backend, and we have the bowlers for it. We just need to play better cricket for 40 overs, the best team will win. The support staff have been incredible about recoveries and injuries. Same team.”

Shubman Gill, GT captain

“We would have batted first as well. Forty overs of cricket already on this wicket and it won’t behave differently. We have everything to play for, it’s a now or never situation. One change: Sai Kishore is back.”
